Hello Reader, We're heading into week six of my new Strength Training class, and I am loving it so much. Time absolutely flies by in class, and I'm having a blast planning our sessions each week. One of my favourite parts is watching the women in class get stronger and start to consider picking up a heavier weight. Something I've noticed along the way is that strength training isn't a substitute for Pilates. Doing both is a major advantage. Pilates focuses so much on spinal health and on how we organize our movement. It teaches us to pay attention to ourselves and to coordinate how we move, and it gets into mobility and the finer patterns of movement that lifting weights doesn't really reach. It also builds core strength and relieves tension, which carries right over into how you lift. The students who come to both are getting all the benefits! If you'd like to try that combination, the November/December session starts the week of November 9 and runs for six weeks.
